How to find a job in Luxembourg

To ensure transparency on the Luxembourg labour market, all job vacancies must be reported to ADEM, the Public Employment Service in Luxembourg. ADEM then publishes the vacancies on two different public job boards, each designed for a specific type of job and application process.

Professions in high demand

The Work in Luxembourg Job Board is an excellent starting point for skilled international professionals seeking to connect with employers in Luxembourg. This platform focuses on job offers in professions where skilled workers are in high demand

These occupations are identified annually based on the current labour market situation and published in the official list of shortage occupations. When fulfilling positions within these occupations, special recruitment rules apply. When hiring for these roles, an accelerated recruitment process applies. For non-EU/EEA/Swiss professionals (third-country nationals), this means that ADEM does not need to conduct a labour market test to verify whether a suitable candidate is available locally, allowing the selected candidate to proceed directly to the immigration process.

If your profession is on the list and you meet the required professional and language criteria, simply create your profile on the Work in Luxembourg Job Board. Once registered, you can apply directly to vacancies, which are updated daily.

Job opportunities across all sectors

You can also find job offers in all sectors on the European Employment Services (EURES) portal. EURES is a European cooperation network that facilitates the free movement of workers by connecting jobseekers and employers across EU and EEA countries. Through the Targeted Mobility Scheme (TMS), EURES provides financial support to jobseekers and employers to promote fair and sustainable cross-border recruitment. Jobseekers can receive assistance for job interviews, relocation, and language training, while employers — especially SMEs — may benefit from support to recruit and integrate workers from other European countries.

Candidates can apply directly on the portal or get support from their national EURES advisors in the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Finding a job via EURES does not affect national requirements for non-EU nationals’ access to the labour market (i.e. work and/or residence permit regime). Please note that candidates from outside the EU (and associated countries) may face longer processing times or possible refusal, as ADEM may need to carry out a labour market test. If no suitable resident jobseeker is available, employers can then obtain the certificate that allows them to hire the candidate they wish to employ.
